Travel, the Way I’ve Always Done It
My name is James. I’m from the UK, and I’ve spent the last 20 years travelling independently through more than 90 countries.
I’ve always been drawn to places that sit outside the usual travel routes - destinations that require curiosity, preparation, and an open mind. I’m far more interested in understanding a place than collecting highlights, and I’ve built my travels around that idea for two decades.
JBee Travels exists to share journeys like that - carefully, responsibly, and without turning them into products designed for mass tourism.
Why JBee?
How JBee Travels Began
For most of my life, travel has been personal and independent. Over time, friends and other travellers began asking how I approached certain trips — how I planned them, how I stayed grounded in unfamiliar places, and how I navigated destinations that don’t come with clear instructions.
JBee Travels is a natural extension of that.
It’s a way to open access to lesser-traveled journeys for people who are curious, capable, and looking for something beyond the obvious.
How Trips Are Designed
Every JBee trip starts the same way:
• extensive research,
• first-hand experience,
• and a realistic understanding of what’s involved.
I don’t offer journeys I haven’t studied deeply or experienced myself. Each expedition is shaped around preparation, flexibility, and respect for the place it moves through - not around chasing trends or viral moments.
The Mauritania iron ore train happens to be the first public expedition because it reflects this approach perfectly: unusual, demanding, and misunderstood unless you’ve spent time understanding it properly.
Why Travel With JBee
This may be the first set of public trips under the JBee name, but it’s built on decades of independent travel in countries where adaptability matters more than rigid plans.
What I bring to every journey:
20 years of real-world travel experience
90 countries across a wide range of cultures and conditions
Calm, grounded leadership in unfamiliar environments
Small groups and an unhurried pace
I’m not interested in scale or volume. JBee Travels is intentionally small, allowing each journey to be approached with care and attention.
Who JBee Travels Is For
JBee Travels is for people who:
• value experience over comfort,
• understand that uncertainty is part of real travel,
• and want to engage with places on their own terms.
If you’re looking for polished itineraries and predictable outcomes, this may not be the right fit.
If you’re looking for thoughtful access to places that are rarely offered - led by someone who’s spent a lifetime moving through them - you’re in the right place.
This is the beginning of a series of journeys to lesser-travelled places. Each one is offered intentionally.
